I do not think the United States should get involved in other countries’ policies for a few reasons. One reason is that if we get involved in other countries it could cause lead to other countries having hostages of ours. In the film Argo based on the 1979 hostage crisis the United States stepped into Iran and helped the Shah. After this the revolutionaries in Iran got ahold of many american hostages. Another reason is that it could lead to other countries that are friends of ours have people held hostage by terrorists. In the film Argo we stepped in to help the Shah which led to the revolution. Some americans went to the canadian ambassador to have hide them. If the canadian ambassador got caught he would have been taken hostage. This is why it could lead to other countries that are friends of ours have people held hostage by terrorists. Finally, if we get involved in other countries’ policies it could lead to our safety in that country to be gone. In the film Argo when the revolutionaries stormed the United States embassy it was taken over by them. They did this because we interfered with the Shah and brought him to America This led to our freedom in that country to be gone. This is why it is important that we do not get involved in other countries’ policies. In the future we should learn from our mistakes and make sure not to interfere with other countries policies. If we don’t get involved in other countries policies it could help us a lot opposed to getting involved in other countries policies.
The USA shouldn’t get involved in other countries policies. For example we funded Iran and gave the Shah a lot of goods and money. The Shah miss used the money and went to America. Then the Ayatollah became the leader and caused lots of war. Since the USA had the Shah, Iran was mad at the USA. But since they had some weapons and money we gave them, they stormed the US embassy and held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days. This is why we shouldn’t fund other countries because this clearly backfired at the USA.
I agree with what you have said but I think it is more than just having hostages for 444 days, I think it is the fact that we had no ability to help them. We shouldn't have been there in the first place so yes I agree we shouldn't be in other countries policies.
No, only if it involves or could involve in the near future. Or if the U.S. is closely allied with another country, maybe it would be okay. But it would probably be best if the U.S. just stayed out of it.
No I do not think that United States should get involved in other countries policies due to the big risks it beholds. Although there are benefits into getting involved with other countries policies they still do not outway the risks. One major risk of getting involved and endorsing the leader of another country is that the people may not like the leader that we have chosen. In Iran the United States was great allies with the Shah but the people did think the same way, the people were poor and treated unfairly by him. The people uprised against the U.S. and the Shah because of how they were treated and made the Ayatollah, Ruhollah Khomeini their new leader. He absolutely despised the U.S. for not handing over the Shah and we lost all power in the Middle East. Another problem with going into countries and getting involved is that it can lead to death. The United States went into Afghanistan and at least one human being was killed more than half of the days we were there. For these reasons I do not think it is a good idea for the United states to get involved in other countries policies.
No the United States should not get involved in other countries’ policies because people are upset with our government because the US is keeping the Shah or possibly any other political leader and can lead into them hurting us with the guns we gave them when we were helping them. The country that you fund can be good for a short time and then turn around on you and use the weapons you gave them to try and destroy you by retaliating against you.
No, because according to Wired, “The Americans had been holed up at Canadian diplomats' homes for 80-odd days. That let them closely follow the chaos in the streets of Tehran — and to dwell on it. It wasn't pretty.” It shows that the people from America were also harmed because they involved with Iran’s policy. Many people get harmed from the anger, such as when Iran took hostage of the Americans from the Embassy.
I would say no because the US will most likely change things to things the US would profit and if the other country profits it is an extra. A large way it was bad was the in Iran when the US put a shah up the Iranians were angry and starving but the US got what they wanted an ally and oil. Also when they put the shah in Iran the Iranians accuse america for making them weak and caused a major hostage crisis and the US embassy to never again exist in Iran.
Good job Ojas. I very much agree on everything that you said. When you gave the example about causing the hostage crisis I very much agreed with what you said about that.
No, only if it involves or could involve us in the near future. Or if the U.S. is closely allied with another country, maybe it would be okay, but it is still risky. In Argo, we tried to deal with Iran’s problems, which led them to attack our embassy. That can happen anywhere. It would probably be best if the U.S. just stayed out of it.
I agree. All countries could react like Iran. It could be worse than a hostage situation. It could lead to war or even just a bunch of people being killed.
No because, people from other countries could get mad and revolt against us and we could get in a war. In Argo the Iranians in the U.S Embassy climbed over walls to attack the U.S workers because they wanted their Shah back and we wouldn’t give him back. For 444 day they kept 52 hostages in holding.
I agree. Other countries might revolt and attack us, which isn't good for the United States. If they attack us, we will need to spend a lot of money to rebuild everything that was ruined in the attack, which could be very bad for our economy.
No because like what they did in Iran and Iraq they got involved with those countries and all those turned out bad. It shows in “Iran the next Iraq” it shows how the US got involved in Iran and how it turned out. The US funded Iran’s nuclear program and now they have a program. Also they appointed someone the shah of Iran. That shah wasn’t good for the country but the US supported him because Iran gave the US oil. In “Argo” it showed how the country revolted against the shah electing the ayatollah. Iran then disliked the US for taking that shah and bringing him to the US for asylum. Also when we helped Iraq with the fight against Iran they got many weapons which many terrorists have now. Overall the US shouldn’t get involved in other country’s policies.
I think it depends on the situation. Like in Argo, changing a country's government for them might not have been the best idea, especially when the citizens are starving and rioting. Also, that country is their own country, and may not want another country bossing them around, and ordering them what to do. It might be good if it is common sense, like for example if there is a dictator that is killing citizens for no good reason, then it might be a good idea for the United States to get involved in that situation. And also if the citizens or both the citizens and government are in favor of it, than the US may get involved.
I feel that the US shouldn’t get involved in the policies of other countries’ policies, because they could turn against them. One example would be when the people of Iran sold the Shah nuclear technology to the USA, which led to them using it against them. Another reason would be that some people believe that Iran wants their nuclear weapons to achieve world prominence.
We should not get involved with other countries polices, because it can cause war and they can try to take us over. However, if we get along with countries maybe there is a chance that we can do it. We do not get along with Iran so we cant even come close to making deals with them. We do not get along with many countries though. for example, Argo, we wanted to keep the shah and because we follow what he does and the Iranians were furious at him, Furthermore, he was dying of cancer. The iranians took american hostages, so we can't get involved with countries that we don't get along with. The countries that we get along with, we need permission from them as well, so overall, We should not get involved with other countries polices because it can be dangerous and lead to war.
the United States should not get involved in other countries’ policies because it could create a war that we could of prevented. According to argo, the movie, the irans were upset because they wanted to hang the shaw and we wouldn’t let them so they started a war. Wars are the last thing this world wants. According to the documentary, they kept 52 people hostage because they were mad at the United states. The best thing to do is not to give into terrorists. We should not be involved in other countries’ policies because this is bad for america and everyone else.
I think that the U.S.A should not be involved in other countries policies. This is because other countries might get mad at us for getting involved with other countries and could eventually start another war if we get evolved. An example of this is in the movie Argo the people got mad at us for protecting the shaw since we got involved in their country. Now, we are still in a bad situation with Iran because of all of the things that we have done that have angered them. However, this could be good because we could make agreements with the government and we can make some sort of agreement about oil. Overall, if we get involved in other countries we could make an agreement or it wouldn’t work out.
I would say no because it could bring war or other serious situations. In the movie Argo, the united states made transactions with Iran and we angered them. We kept the Shaw which leaded them to taking over the United States embassy in Iran. They held 52 hostages of the United States. This could happen with any other country. I don't think the United States should get involved with other countries.
I agree with you. I think that if we got involved then the countries might not like what we have to stay. Also, something else could happen like in Iran with the hostages.
I do not think the United States should get involved in other countries’ policies for a few reasons. ReplyDeleteAdam's has a lot of really good info just a bit of unneeded things. But I agree very much. It caused much pain and suffering.
DeleteThe USA shouldn’t get involved in other countries policies. For example we funded Iran and gave the Shah a lot of goods and money. The Shah miss used the money and went to America. ReplyDeleteI agree. We should DEFINITELY NOT go into Iran. It is very dangerous to invade Iran because people can get hurt.
DeleteWe should not invade Iran because we should be more concerned about losing our soldiers because of terrorists
